Ebay: Woe from Nigeria

Here's a big tip for everyone receiving emails from Nigeria. IT IS A TRUE SCAM!!!

There are so many scams created by these anonymous emailer's/ebayer's. I've come across several emails that is sent to your e-address claiming "they are in need of your help". Don't fall
for that. The letter is made to make you believe you have an interest in a 47.5 million dollar (or whatever insane amount that is in the letter) contract deal.

Do not be fooled by the $$ listed in these letters. Nothing but financial burdens will you gain from this venture. Now, the Nigerian scams are vast and newer ones are being created. I've recently discovered the EBAY 419 Scams. Maybe its been around for awhile, but I've just got word of it. To all the doting Ebay buyers/sellers be aware of these scam artists.

How does it work? Well, you list on your Ebay account a brand new laptop/netbook/notebook that you want to auction. You price it at $480.00. In less than a day you receive an offer for your product. Now, the buyer sends an inquiry through Ebay or sends an email requesting you stop the auction on your product. This anonymous person offers $1500 (s/h inclusive with the price) for your $480.00 product .

You start to feel the excitement. You reply back to the buyer, that you have removed the product from the auction bidding. He/she immediately requests that you send your Paypal address so they can deposit the agreed upon amount. This is the interesting part. You receive an email from Paypal stating a deposit was made to your account in the amount of $1500. The cost of shipping and handling is inclusive.

At the bottom of the letter, an address located in Nigeria is listed at the bottom of the page. To the right of this address is a small caption that reads: Paypal will hold the payment until a tracking number is confirmed. Hmmmm . . .this begins to sound fishy!

First off, Paypal doesn't retain money until a shipment tracking number is confirmed. Second, if you personally check your Paypal account, you will have a zero balance deposited. If you are still unsure of the transaction, contact Paypal yourself. Verify with them in regards to the "supposed" deposit.

Take precautions. Don't just follow in blindly. To sum up your loss from Ebay, lets do a calculation.

Ebay Listing and incursion fee's: $6.00
Your Product Listed Price: $480.00
S/H Fee to Nigeria Via UPS: $50.00
Box to Ship Express: $12.00
Total Loss: $548.00

Now, picture sending your product to two different individuals. Your loss will roughly be about $1100.00. Are you willing to bet your money with these kinds of scams/scam artists? Take precautions. Be careful of scams or scam artists that are waiting to take your money. You lose out all the way around. There is no way you can recoup on your lost merchandise, shipping and handling, listing/incursion fees and the express postal box you purchased.

Be careful of these types of buyers on Ebay. Their feedbacks could say they are the greatest. But, reality says different. Double check all your deals to keep you safe.

testimonials can be falsified.

Job Request Emails

Okay folks, I'm sure you probably received an email title "Job Request 099-34698" or something similar. Be advised, more of these emails are being sent daily. These "Job Request" is not something you requested at all.

Rather, it is an email to promote "WorkatHomeRecruiters.com". Now, their initial web page might seem sincere, but it isn't. First off, they will ask you for your NAME, PHONE NUMBER, ZIPCODE, AND EMAIL. After inputting the information requested from you, another page will appear. (TIP: This web page is used to collect your personal information. The only job that will be offered is Auction Listings. Try it out for yourself. When prompted input this information: The (first name), Truth (last name), 000-123-4567 (phone number), doublecross@anywhere.com (email).

The next web page will use a scare tactic (example: Only 3 more positions left). This tactic is commonly used to cause panic and create a need for something, they hope you will buy. Now, this second web page will be promoting the Auction Listing Program. This program is very similar to the processing rebates program. The difference is you will be listing items from wholesalers onto your Ebay account. You, will be promoting these companies exclusively through Ebay. From the listings, Auction Listing states you will make $13.00 per listing. Example shown below:

The hype starts at seeing how much money could be made. If you list 25 @ $13 a piece you'd pull in a hefty $325. Auction Listing elaborates in details all the benefits you could receive as a lister. What they don't tell you is your out-of-pocket expenses, how you'd be making that $13.

Lets break it down. When your listing a product on ebay, you the seller will be paying for the "listing and incursion fees". The fees combined equals to $6.00. You list 25 products from any wholesaler. 25 products x $6.00 for ebay fee's = $15.00 listing fees. Your thinking, that's not a big amount, right?! Now, factor in the percentage Ebay makes per sale and the fee's Paypal debits from your account (Note: Ebay deals exclusively with Paypal or their approved payment processor). After, completing these steps, take a look at how your getting your $13.00.

The company pays you when your customers clicks on the products link. From, the retail price you will be given your $13.00. Now, if it was as simple as they claim, you'd be making some Moolah! Here's a little information you probably won't receive. Some of your buyers offer you an amount and asks you to end the auction. Example: You list a 10.1 Aspire Netbook for $437.00. Your buyer offers $1500 but refuses to click on the product link. How are you going to get PAID?!

Well, here's 3 options:

1. Buy the product yourself and ship it to them.

2. Insist on having them click on the link and pray that they will.

3. Have them buy from the website Auction Listing provide you with.

The biggest problem you'd run into is your buyers won't end up paying you the money. To recap, you've just spent $15.00 on listing fees, a percentage of the sale goes to Ebay and Paypal, you paid for S&H (about $48.00), and the buyer doesn't pay you the $437.00. On estimation, you lost an investment of $500.00, not including the percentage fees you still owe.

With the figures and examples given, you still might insist that you could make money. Well, the decision is your choice. Hopefully, this small tidbits will help you consider if this program is worth it. Hey, it's $97.00 of your own money, plus all the other costs included.

Just a heads up folks. If you haven't heard it, then maybe its time you did. FreelanceHomeWriters.com is another misleading program. At least they will be upfront and tell you their fees. There's the $2.95 trial fee, followed by a $49.95 monthly fee. Here's the good part, while this company debits $2.95 for the trial fee; the $49.95 monthly fee is also debited. Freelance Home Writers goes on to say you could be making $5,000.00 per month. If you figure out the math and your out-of-pocket expenses, it doesn't add up.

Also, trying to get a refund will be VERY frustrating. But, if you want your money back; become a PEST. Email or call them daily. Email them at freelance-home-writers.com or call them at 1-800-750-7660. I can't promise that they will answer your calls or emails. Neither can I guarantee they will refund your money. All I can do is give you information on where to call or send an email, to help you regain your money. Remember if a program is stating "an eight year old can do it", it is not worthy to dwell on. To be blunt, it is [B...S...].

Be vigilant in using your good judgment. If it sounds fishy, it definitely is. FreelanceHomeWriters.com is not the best work at home opportunity.

Ever come across one of Diana Deangeolo's sales pitches? Did you see how good she made it seem? Here's a very big tip, to all webbers . . . be careful of this program. You are required to purchase this program for $157.00 and some change.

Its states on their sales page that you have a 60 day money back guarantee. But, should you ever decide to get a refund, they will email you a phone number that no one will ever answer. Here's the telephone number to call to get your refund 1-800-818-7155 (Note: You will have to wait it out, between 45 minutes to an hour). Don't give up! It is your money. Get it back. If you email them about your refund, an automated responder will email you (i.e. Your concerns have been forwarded to the appropriate department). No matter how much you email them, they will email you the same statement repetitiously. Don't bother with the emails, believe me, it doesn't work.

To avoid this hassle, don't spend $157.00 and receive useless information with unsatisfactory results. There are also other links/websites you can visit that will reveal the untruth of this woman who has deliberately mislead her customers.

It is amazing, how many people disregard these small links located at the bottom of the web page. These links provide insightful information about the company you're interested in. Many work from home companies have their "MONEY BACK GUARANTEE" written in these sections. They describe in detail about their guarantee and whether or not they will honor it.

IF, no guarantee's are written in these sections, then you will need to check these companies another way. To do this, you will need to check who is their payment processor. Work from home companies that DO NOT use a reputable third party pay processor, won't have to abide by any agreement terms or guidelines. They will not follow through with their guarantees and you will be at their mercy.

Reputable third party payment processors such as PAYPAL have strict code of ethics with their terms of agreement.
